This privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with how their ‘Personally Identifiable Information’ (PII) is being used online. PII, as described in US privacy law and information security, is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context. Website Visitors

Like most website operators, Avario collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Avario uses the Google Analytics service for this. Avario’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Avario’s visitors use its website. From time to time, Avario may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

Avario also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on the blog or forums. Avario only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to Avario’s websites choose to interact with Avario in ways that require Avario to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that Avario gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who create a forum account to provide a username and an email address. Those who engage in transactions with Avario are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those transactions. Presence Sensing and GPS Location Data

Your phone/tablet location and sensors can help determine whether or not someone’s home, which means these signals, working together, can help determine presence inside the home. This feature is called presence sensing. Presence sensing can help your home devices adjust to your needs when you are home or away and is used to trigger events like lights turning on or off, certain HVAC settings, curtain motors, etc. You have the option to disable the ‘sharing’ of this data in your phone. To disable this feature, follow the instructions for your operating system.

 

Aggregated Statistics

Avario may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For instance, Avario may monitor the most popular integration documentation. Avario may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, Avario does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Information We Collect from Other Sources

With your authorization, we may also obtain information about you from other sources. For example, if you create or log into your Avario Community account through a social media service (like Facebook or Google) or if you connect your account to a social media service, we will receive information from that service (such as your username, basic profile information, and friends list) via the authorization procedures used by that service. The information we receive depends on which services you authorize and any options that are available.

Companion Applications

All information collected by the applications is sent directly to your hosted instance of Avario. This includes, but is not limited to, sensor data and location data, which at times is sent while the application is in the background. At no point is this data logged or given to a 3rd party.

Although most changes are likely to be minor, Avario may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and in Avario’s sole discretion.
